Plug-ins, Run Modes and hotkeys
Does SlipTap open the plug-ins for me?
Not the first time — open the AudioSuite plug-in window in Pro Tools yourself, then run Assign Plug-in in SlipTap to link it to a button or hotkey. After that, if the assigned window happens to be closed when you trigger it, SlipTap can open it for you from the AudioSuite menu and then run the action.
Can I assign Render and Learn from the same plug-in to separate buttons?
Yes. Assign the same plug-in to two SlipTap slots, then choose a different Run Mode for each slot, such as Render and Learn. Both slots can target the same open plug-in window, so you only need one window open.
What keys can I use, and will they clash with Pro Tools?
Assign single keys (like Q or W) or combos (like ⌃R). When you set a hotkey, SlipTap checks it against Pro Tools' default shortcuts and warns you if it conflicts. Hotkeys work only while Pro Tools is in front and pause while you type or use an Open/Save dialog. Hotkeys are optional — the panel works on its own.
How do I get Pro Tools' own keys back for a moment?
Choose [Pause Hotkeys] from the SlipTap icon in the menu bar. While paused, every key you assigned works as the normal Pro Tools key, and the panel buttons keep working. Choose [Resume Hotkeys] in the same menu to turn your hotkeys back on. Relaunching SlipTap also starts it with hotkeys on.
Still stuck?
Right after the problem happens, open Preferences → Diagnostics → Export Diagnostics in SlipTap and send us the file. It records the app and macOS versions, permission state, hotkey engine, Secure Input, recent actions and errors, and crash information. It does not include Pro Tools session names, file names, clip names, or your license key.
