How do I move SlipTap to a new Mac?
One license can be active on up to two Macs you own or control at the same time. If it's active on only one Mac now, you can activate the new Mac without deactivating anything; if it's already on two, deactivate one first. Your buttons, hotkeys and layouts live in profiles, which move over in one backup file.
- On the old Mac, choose File → [Create Full Profile Backup...] to save all your profiles into one .sliptap-backup file, then copy that file to the new Mac.
- If needed, click [Deactivate] in Preferences → License on the old Mac (needs an internet connection). If you won't use that Mac any more, you can instead remove SlipTap with Preferences → General → [Uninstall SlipTap…] — it releases this Mac's seat first.
- Install SlipTap on the new Mac and allow its two permissions, Accessibility and Input Monitoring — see Install & setup.
- On the new Mac, enter your license key and the email you used to purchase in Preferences → License, then click [Activate] (needs an internet connection).
- Still on the new Mac, choose File → [Restore Full Profile Backup...] and open the backup file. [Merge] keeps the profiles already there and adds the ones in the backup; [Replace] backs up the current profile folder first, then swaps in the backup's contents.
If the old Mac is lost or broken and you can't deactivate it there, you can release it yourself from View Order in your purchase receipt email.
Still stuck?
Right after the problem happens, open Preferences → Diagnostics → Export Diagnostics in SlipTap and send us the file. It records the app and macOS versions, permission state, hotkey engine, Secure Input, recent actions and errors, and crash information. It does not include Pro Tools session names, file names, clip names, or your license key.
